Here, I am

SOLD 1400x1000mm Acrylic on canvas When I had the idea for “Here, I am”, it was from a photo I took of my daughter, standing on the waters edge and not another person in sight on our beautiful beach. The beauty that comes with this feeling of being alone in such a calming yet invigorating space was what I wanted to capture when I started painting it. The birds are always there. I included the critically endangered Tara Iti and Dotterel in thinking this would be about their need for protection. However, after completing this painting I now wonder, perhaps is it instead - the birds protecting her 🤍
